Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) The Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) is a Public Entity (PE) supervised by the Ministry of Tourism. President of GNTO : Ioannis Kofinis Board of Directors G.N.T.O.
The GNTO was first established in 1927 and re-established in 1950 by Emergency Act 1565/50, ratified by law 1624/51); in the meantime, tourism fell under the competence of various ministries. Since 1950, the GNTO constitutes the ruling state agency for the tourism sector. According to law 3270/04 (Government Gazette 187/Α/11.10.2004), GNTO consists of the Head Office located in Athens and the Regional Departments of Tourism (as of 01.01.2005). The structure of the GNTO's services and the competences of each unit are included in Presidential Decree 343/2001 (Gov. Gazette no 231 A). The Organisation of Tourism Education and Training (O.T.E.K.) The Organization of Tourism Education and Training constitute the specialised state organization which provides tourism education and training in Greece. They operate as Legal Entities of Public law supervised by the Ministry of Development. The Organization of Tourism Education and Training consist of the Former School of Tourist Professions and the Schools of Tour Guides. The new form of the Schools signals both their contemporary role in the reorganization and modernization of Tourism education and training in Greece, and the formation of a contemporary system for the accreditation of the professional qualifications in the tourism sector. The aims of the Schools policy are: Association of Greek Tourist Enterprises (SETE) The SETE founded in 1991. Represents the nationwide tourism industry associations and individual business enterprises operating in the wider tourism economy, covering the entire range of tourism activities. The purpose of SETE is the continuous strengthening of competitiveness and enhance the significant role of tourism in the Greek economy.
